MAY 27, 1951 - AUGUST 2, 2011

William "Steve" Anderson was born May 27, 1951 and died Aug. 2, 2011 at the age of 60 after leading an extraordinary life. Steve battled liver cancer at the Hospice Center in Lenoir, NC. He was a resident of Jensen Beach, FL and spent several months of the year at the cabin he built in the Blue Ridge Mountains of Caldwell County, NC.

He is survived by his loving wife, Cathy Anderson; his mother, Peggy Law; his brother, Randy Steve Thomas; and three sons, Seth (Melinda) Anderson, Aaron Anderson and Eric Jansen. Steve was a wonderful Granpa to six grandchildren, Sean, Damaeon, Troy, Ryker, Anika and Autumn; and a dear friend to his "Best Buddy", Zack, his Golden Retriever.

Steve served as a paratrooper in the U.S. Army in the Vietnam War. He was a retired fire captain, paramedic and investigator/inspector in St. Lucie County, FL. He and his wife are the franchise owners of the Hurricane Grill Restaurant in Jensen Beach.

Steve was a dedicated Harley rider, putting thousands of miles a year on his Firefighter Special Edition Electra Glide. Some of his favorite times were traveling across the country with his friends. He was an avid hiker who loved the great outdoors. He and Cathy visited many of our nation's national parks and spent many days hiking the trails off the Blue Ridge Parkway with their dog. Steve, a shutterbug at heart, loved to capture a moment or a memory on film. He spent hours editing and cataloging his pictures.

Steve served his community as a member of the Make-A-Wish Foundation, a volunteer reading mentor at Village Green Elementary School and served on the board of the American Red Cross. He attended Southside Christian Church in Fort Pierce, FL, First Baptist Church of Jensen Beach and Foscoe Christian Church in North Carolina.

This dedicated granddad, dad, husband and friend will be greatly missed.

A memorial celebration will begin at 11 a.m. Aug. 13 Southside Christian Church, located at 3822 Edwards Road in Fort Pierce.

Arrangements are entrusted to the care of Martin Funeral Home & Crematory, Stuart, FL.
